Why evaluate pre-production documents? - Evaluating the effectiveness of pre-production documentation is vital in ensuring that the final version that is sent to the production team is effective. - If documents aren't checked, they could be the cause of a major planning problem, so its important that the quality of the documents is evaluated. How to evaluate: - The documents need to be considered in relation to: - Suitability of content for meeting the brief and usefulness in aiding the production team in producing the product. - Suitability of content for the target audience. Should use: - Positive language - Consideration for the original designer/creator - Specific feedback on any suggested improvement - justifying why it would make the document more effective. Concept Art, Visualisation Diagrams, Flat Plans, Prototypes, Mock ups.

Concept Art: Concept art is the idea of using visual media to inspire you on what to include in a video EG music video. Visualisation diagrams: These are detailed drawings. In order to see what a product might look like, the best method would be to sketch it out. Flat plan: Only needed for print documents. They give you an idea of what will be on each page of something. For example, newspapers or a magazines. A flat plan enables you to map out each page of a print media/documents. Demonstrates layout of magazine as whole. Prototypes: This is a less expensive (lower budget)  lower quality,  version of a product to test it out. It enables you to test out the products functions before actually making the real product. Mock ups: When creating a design for a product, you can use mock ups to visualise what a logo or masthead to see what it looks like on different products.

Client brief homework

1. The first reason as to why clients write briefs is because it leads to better and more measurable work. This because the brief allows everything else to flow well, meaning that all work can be completed well and up to standard. Without a brief there is essentially no form of guidance as to what needs to be done at each stage. Furthermore, the client brief can also be considered a platform for a communications campaign. 2. The second reason to why client briefs are important is because it saves time and money. This is because it takes longer to find a solution to certain situations without direct instructions on how to do so, this will mean there is a delay on when this solution can be found. A written brief also ensures that there is more chance of getting it right first time, and it minimises wastefulness. 3.
