Research notes for film making video

Investors and Grants notes.

  • Investing is when you contribute money to a project in hope to gain a larger profit in return if that project is successful.
  • This often happens with films.
  • Investing in films is often a good idea because many will be successful.
  • After researching online I have managed to find a business that help you invest your money into films

1)

The companys is in fact called “Film investments” and they encourage one particular method of film investment, with their purpose being to help you do so.
  • They offer 25 years of Royalty payments
  • The chance to be a Film Extra and attend VIP events.
  • The chance to have your name in the film credits.

2) We are UK films brings together the Uks film national and regional agencies, producers and sales companies under one umbrella to provide clear information about their locations, services, films and talent.

One of the case studies under We Are UK film is the film "Skyfall" which comes under their "Film London" Sector. It was the 23rd Bond film and was filmed at a number of iconic London landmarks such as Vauxhall bridge and Charing Cross Station as well as filming in other cities such as Shanghai. Film London helped to support the filming of this because it required a lot of work to be able to use these locations, and they had to gain permission from various people or organisations.

The second website that I researched is called CreativeeuropeUK. They are the european unions programme to support the cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors.

From the start of 2014 to 2020, €1.46 billion is available to support european projects with the potential to travel, reach new audiences and encourage skill sharing and development.

It was launched in 2014 and brings together a culture-sub programme that provides funding for the cultural and creative sectors, and a media-sub programme, which invests in film, television, new media and games.

From 2014- 2016, Creative Europe funded 283 UK cultural organisations and audiovisual companies as well as the cinema distribution of 115 uk films in other european countries, with grants totalling €57 million.

Case study: One of the projects in which they funded was a film called "Bacalaureat (Graduation)". It is a Romanian language drama film that is set in a small town. The film is about a doctor who takes matters into his own hands when an attack on his daughter ruins her scholarship to a great British university.

  1. You've got some good notes here, but you need to provide some more specific detail. What did you find out about Film 4/BBC etc? What projects have benefitted from their investments?

Also you need to put the links of each website into this post so that you can refer back to them during your revision stage. Be sure you have all the research from the rest of your group.
